Bonnie Terry, M. Ed explains the causes of spelling problems, how to find out what is causing the problem, and the type of spelling program that will address the problems. Video discusses the symptoms and causes of spelling problems. A parent writes... in and asks, “My son is a horrible speller, I don’t know if this indicates a learning disability, like dyslexia, or just lazy.” She answers the cause could be auditory processing, by not putting the correct letter to the sound or remembering the letter that goes with the sound. In order to understand this they can use an informal assessment. The parent needs to be a detective and use some tools that are available. Parent can also use a spelling websites to help their child. Video is of good quality, it would help the parent who is looking for answers to this question about spelling problems.
