Felix Mendelssohn (1809-1847) is perhaps the greatest child prodigy after Mozart. Mendelssohn began taking piano lessons at six, made his first public concert appearance at the age of nine, published his first composition by the time he was thirteen, and wrote his first symphony at the age of fifteen.
