Following the arrival of the first captured Africans in the early 1600s, the slavery system in America evolves into a nightmare of abuse and cruelty. This video does not deal with slavery worldwide, just in the colonies. It shows how the slaves were ...not given rights and could be bought and sold. The slave trade expands even after the importation of slaves ended in the early 1800s. May be too intense for some students. Slaves shown in the Southern states and its use changed the culture and resulted in sectionalism and eventually war as the Southerns wanted to keep slaves even if it meant having to leave the union.
