Ramesses II had to face the invasion of the Hiitites and had to employ poorer weapons and an army of men from throughout the empire. He led the campaign himself. ( Video is well done and professionally produced.)

Aside from his own tomb, Ramses built a most beautiful tomb for his chief wife, Nefetari. There is a great deal of information left on the walls and stone near the tomb of Ramses. (Video is well-produced and very informative.)

Ramses struck a peace treaty with the Hiitites and married one of the Hiitite king's daughters. A new capital city was built (Per Ramses) that signified the beginning of a new empire while, in southern Egypt, tombs were being built in Ramses' honor w...ith all of the riches of the empire. During the great battle of Kadesh, the Egyptians were near defeat until re-enforcements arrived and saved the day. However, it only stopped the invasion and Ramses told the story of the battle as if they had a great victory and that he fought as if h...e was a god. ( Video is well done and professionally produced.)

At age 40, Ramses realized that his time was near and turned to his building program. He had every temple in the realm re-done with statues of himself as part of them. ( Video is well done and professionally produced.)
