Video: How To Enable Task Manager in Windows. Learn to enable task manager in windows with these steps.
Step 1: Run the registry editor
Step 2: Navigate to the system folder
Open HKEY_CURRENT_USER. Then go to Software, then Microsoft, Windows,... CurrentVersion, Policies, and then the System folder.
Step 3: Delete DisableTskMgr
Move the cursor to the right panel and click DisableTaskManager. Delete this item by pressing the Delete key. You can also right-click DisableTskMgr, click Modify, and then change the value data number to zero to enable it.
Step 4: Test the task manager
Step 5: Check virus software
Check your virus software or contact your computer manufacturer’s technical support. Sometimes a virus on your computer can disable the task manager.

To resolve this problem do the followings:-
1] Boot computer with the Windows XP CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive.
2] To repair a Windows XP installa...tion using Recovery Console, press R.
3] At the command prompt, type the following commands:-
cd \windows\system32\drivers [Press the ENTER Key]
ren ntfs.sys ntfs.old [Press the ENTER Key]
If the ntfs.sys file is there and corrupt it will rename it. If it is not there then it was missing.
4]At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
copy X:\i386\ntfs.sys drive:\windows\system32\drivers [Where X=CD-ROM Drive]
5]Remove the Windows XP CD from CD-ROM drive, type quit, and then
press ENTER to quit the Recovery Console.
6. Restart the system. (6:56)

Put in my XP install cd and boot from it, then press enter to set up windows xp, then hit f8, then press "R", then when a black screen pops up select your hard drive and then type chkdsk then when that's done type fixboot and restart.
