Using evidence of what high performing countries are doing in math and college and career readiness was the basis for creating the common core standards in math. Focus is a guiding principle with the math standards. Focus means spending more time on ...fewer things at any given grade. This video does a good job on showing how the common core standards work together to build a basic, solid foundation and how each grade level builds on each other. This is a great resource for professional development and offers a springboard for teachers and administrators to discuss implementing the common core standards in schools. (8:11)

This Common Core State Standards video shows the design of math progressions and how they play out in domains over grade spans. The team members wanted to build coherence so that different grade levels could see what is expected in other grades. This... is a great resource for professional development and provides a springboard for discussions among teachers and administrators. (2:01)
