Theatre

Learn to appreciate theatre as an art form.  The role of the theatre artist is to lead the audience into an imagined world, visually, aurally and orally.  Learn to see the created world of theatre through the eyes of the playwright, actor, designer, and director.  Use drama as a participant or viewer as a means of pleasure, communication, and learning.  Correlate personal experiences to stage and film experiences.  Become familiar with plays with national, international and historical themes.  Through active creation of theatre, learn to understand artistic choices and to critique dramatic works.  Determine the value of collaboration in creating a theatrical production.  Know professional standards for theatre professionals.  Analyze ways in which theatre mirrors daily life.  Synthesize technological discoveries from research in the creation of classroom dramatizations.  Apply research from print and nonprint sources to script-writing, acting, designing, and directing choices.  Integrate other art forms into dramatic presentations.  Determine effectiveness and use of creative processes, principles, and techniques of theatre as they relate to other art disciplines, other subjects, and everyday life.  Demonstrate an understanding of theatre as a collaborative art.
