Natterjack Toad Eating Caterpillar
From arkive.org, produced by Arkive.org-BBC Natural History
This very short video gives excellent real life footage of a Common Toad using its long tongue to capture and to eat a caterpillar. The chief distinguishing feature of the natterjack toad (Bufo calamita) is the yellow stripe down its back. Shorter hind legs also tell the natterjack toad apart from the common toad and it has a tendency to run instead of hopping or walking, which is why it is sometimes called the running toad. This is a great resource to help build background knowledge and to help make real world connections between nature and the classroom. (Less Than 1 Minute)
