Campaign Spot: Voting Booth (1972)
From history.com, produced by History Channel
George McGovern makes a play for the quintessential undecided voter. Though a clever spot, it would not help McGovern much in the real polls. He had already been branded too liberal advocating withdrawal from Vietnam, amnesty for draft evaders, and ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment. Nixon won in a landslide. (1:02)

Expedition Blue Planet- Interview: David Emmett- Conservation International
From YouTube, produced by Alexandra Cousteau
Cambodia serves as another case study of an environmental phenomenon affecting the entire planet. A World Heritage Site, Angkor is one of the most important archaeological sites in South-East Asia. Stretching over some 400 square kilometers, the park contains the magnificent remains of the Khmer Empire, dating from the 9th to the 15th century AD.Today, researchers believe that water scarcity may have caused the demise of what was one of the largest and most important civilizations of its time. By destroying vast tracts of forest to enlarge their farmland, inhabitants of the city of Angkor lit the fuse to an ecological time bomb. Flooding ensued, and huge amounts of sediment and sand washed down the mountains, filling up canals, and possibly choking the vital water management system, thereby making the society vulnerable to attack and invasion.Furthermore,Cambodia serves as another case study of an environmental phenomenon affecting the entire planet: climate change is causing our glaciers, from the Arctic tundra to the Swiss Alps to the Himalayas, to melt away. As with the Ganges in India, Cambodia along with neighboring China, Burma, Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam will suffer tragic consequences if and when the great Mekong River becomes a seasonal river. This Day in History June 27: Truman Orders U.S. Forces to Korea
From history.com, produced by history channel
On June 27, 1950, President Harry S. Truman announces that he is ordering U.S. air and naval forces to South Korea to aid the democratic nation in repulsing an invasion by communist North Korea. The United States was undertaking the major military operation, he explained, to enforce a United Nations resolution calling for an end to hostilities, and to stem the spread of communism in Asia. In addition to ordering U.S. forces to Korea, Truman also deployed the U.S. 7th Fleet to Formosa (Taiwan) to guard against invasion by communist China and ordered an acceleration of military aid to French forces fighting communist guerrillas in Vietnam.
