Anesthesia has allowed surgeries to be completely painless for the patient. Who actually discovered it, however, is up for debate. By the 1840's, several individuals were on the trail of finding a more affective anesthetic. Two dentists from Boston, and a doctor from Georgia were all experimenting with two drugs, laughing gas, and ether. All three doctors claim to be the one who actually discovered anesthesia. "In 2006 higher levels of carbon dioxide in the air had a negative impact on oceans, hitting marine life hard. A more acidic ocean means weaker shells and skeletons of billions of tiny sea creatures. These creatures may be small, but they create more then 70% of the oxygen we breath. Bigger fish are suffering from overfishing, but the good news is that the U.S. government is doing things to help." (06:04)

This video tells the story of the Klondike Gold Rush. The Klondike Gold Rush was a frenzy of gold rush immigration to and gold prospecting in the Klondike near Dawson City in the Yukon Territory, Canada, after gold was discovered in the late 19th century. The gold rush remains an important event in the history of the city of Edmonton, which to this day celebrates Klondike Days, an annual summer fair with a Klondike gold rush theme. Among the many to take part in the gold rush was writer Jack London, whose books White Fang and The Call of the Wild were influenced by his northern experiences, and adventurer "Swiftwater" Bill Gates. Video is good quality and has information for students studying this area of the United States. (03:06)
