This is actual footage of a grandfather! This is a home movie of someone's wedding in Portland in the 1930's-40's. This would be good to show kids what things looked like at that time period (cars, style of dress, houses, hair, etc.) as well as how this short film tells a part of their life. You could also talk about the differences in the actual film versus our digital film today. This would make a great compliment to the poem "Grandpa's Stories".
NOTE: I would mention that more people smoked back then because they didn't know how bad it was for their health at that time (there are people smoking in the video).

News clip from San Antonio, TX news channel KSAT. The CEO of Watchknowlearn.org has spent the last few months traveling across the country to spread the word about the free website filled with thousands of educational videos."There are states that are losing their budgets for online subscriptions," said Thomas. "Why would they need them when they could go to a free video subscription that's really vetted by teachers?"
"The teacher's biggest obstacle is always time," added Rios, Director of Technology at Ft. Sam ISD. "There's wonderful resources out there, there's great video out there but they don't have the time to go through and search for age-appropriate materials and Watchknowlearn.org has done all that for them." "They've grown up with all these digital tools throughout their life and that's what they're used to," said Rios. "We as educators need to be able to tap into that to engage them in the learning process." (01:49)

Many of the structures were designed by the Emperor Hadrian who ruled from 117 until his death in 138 C.E. This virual rendering is based on current archeological research and has been created in consultation with art historians, archaeologists, and museum curators with expertise in this area. Please note, a few features are necessarily assumptions based on the best available evidence. (08:04)

This three minute video reviews how an animated video is made for Brainpop. The same ideas can be used to make such videos for other sources and reasons as well. The steps include: First the audio is recorded. Next, the animator sketches a comic strip for the video called a storyboard. Animated videos are usually made with digital animation. Digital animations use computers to create moving
images. Different images are put together in sequence to give the impression that the figures are moving. Most 2-d animated videos are made with flash. After the animation files are done, the audio is synchronized to the animation creating the video. The video moves rapidly so the teacher may need to stop and provide more indepth knowledge during certain sequences.
