High Speed Life in Slow Motion
From vimeo.com
A fantastic demo video of the High Speed High definition SprintCam Video Camera which shoots over 1000 frames per second.  The quality is astounding and the final shot of a falling jelly/jello cube is simply mesmerising.  My Physics classes of all ages loved this (as did my kids age 6 and 9).  A great end of lesson clip - around 3 minutes runtime.

What Is A Watershed
From discoveryeducation.com, produced by Discovery Education
From the mountains to the coast, this series focuses on the water system known as the Connecticut River, one of 10 designated American Heritage Rivers. Filmed in the ecosystem and supported by The Connecticut River Education Initiative. Water. About three feet of it falls as rain and snow in this part of New England every year. In cities and other developed areas, much of it runs off rapidly, down into catch basins and storm drains, where it races through pipes and discharges into our rivers. In forested areas, it's a different story. Just where this rainwater flows depends on topography. With its hills and valleys, the earth is divided into watersheds or river basins, each one isolated from the next.

Protozoa Classification
From eol.org, produced by AskNature
Protozoa: a now obsolete term that referred to colorless protists and included flagellates, ciliates, amoebae and sporozoa. The protozoa were all thought to be single celled eukaryotes. The concept was popular for much of the 20th century, but it has become clear that some are relatives of animals and fungi, others have closer relationships with algae than with other protozoa, and that protozoa are not closely related. The term has largely fallen into disuse. This interactive webpage gives clear, detailed pictures of specific examples (ciliophora, flagellata, and percolozoa to name a few), along with written explanations for most.  No run time.

A Real Education: The Plight of Teachers
From YouTube, produced by CBS Sunday Morning
Since 1996 inflation-adjusted pay for a public school teacher has actually fallen, and nationwide about one in five teachers has a second job during the school year to make ends meet. Fury over those flat and falling wages helped spark a movement over the past 18 months in which tens of thousands of teachers walked off the job, but thousands have also been forced by economic conditions to give up their profession. "CBS This Morning" co-host Tony Dokoupil talks with New York Times education reporter Dana Goldstein, and with Oklahoma teachers who have struggled with low pay – including one, Carri Hicks, who turned her frustration into a run for public office. Amazing Trampolini Brothers: Noisy
From pbslearningmedia.org, produced by WGBH Educational Foundation
In this video segment from Between the Lions, the circus MC introduces the incredible, daring, and animated Trampolini Brothers performing the Noisy Balancing Ballyhoo. One brother holds a squawking chicken and a monkey that crashes cymbals, which is noisy. The next brother holds a trumpeting elephant with a roaring lion, squawking chicken, and cymbal-crashing monkey on top. That's even noisier. The last brother holds a trumpeting elephant with a roaring lion, squawking chicken, cymbal-crashing monkey, barking seal, two party-favor-blowing clowns, and the MC on top. This is the noisiest of all. The MC reviews the comparative adjectives noisy, noisier, and noisiest as all three brothers are shown with their noise makers. Then the pile of animals and circus performers fall down. Featured vocabulary include the comparative and superlative adjectives noisy, noisier, and noisiest. This video segment provides a resource for Vocabulary, Language and Vocabulary Development, Phonics, Letter Knowledge Awareness, and Phonological Awareness. (00:41)

The Aftermath of World War II
From hippocampus.org, produced by University of California
The Grand Alliance was a military success—Germany and Japan were defeated by the fall of 1945. However, despite the agreement to organize the United Nations, nothing close to a lasting ideological or political alliance was formed among the Allies during the Second World War. There were simply too many irreconcilable differences between them, exacerbated by a traditional distrust that commenced with the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917.
Actions taken by the Allied powers during the war likewise increased tensions within the Grand Alliance.

American Revolution: The World Turned Upside Down
From awesomestories.com, produced by PBS
(Episode 5 of the series Liberty, by PBS) When the war in the North was fought to a stalemate, Sir Henry
Clinton thought his troops could defeat the rebellion in the American
South.  Perhaps, with people still loyal to the British Crown, the long
and costly war could finally end in Britain's favor.
After the fall of South Carolina, Clinton's strategy seemed to be
working very well.  He sent Lord Cornwallis to complete the job.  But
things did not continue according to plan.
With the help of the French, and a stunning convergence of favorable
events, General Washington met his enemy at Yorktown.  British rule in America would soon be over forever.

What Is a Shooting Star? - Song
From YouTube, produced by They Might Be Giants
This professionally-made music video from They Might Be Giants explains that a shooting star is actually is a meteor in the sky. Cartoons are simple and cute while the tune and lyrics are catchy and easy to remember.  Some lyrics include "A shooting star is not a star, is not a star at all.  A shooting star is a meteor that's heading for a fall. A shooting star is not a star.  Why does it shine so bright?  The friction as it falls through air produces heat and light.  A shooting star or meteor, whichever name you like.  The minute it comes down to Earth it's called a meteorite."  (01:32)
