This video shows the arrival of immigrants in the U.S. A rare clip that dates back to 1903. The start of the video discusses Charlie Chaplin arriving in the United States with the Karno troupe on October 2, 1912. According to Ellis Island Immigration Records he had $45 in his pocket Chaplin arrived with Stan Laurel with whom he shared a room in a boarding house. Since cooking was impossible Chaplin would play the violin to cover up the sound of Laurel frying up food up food on a hot plate. Video then shows a boat coming into Ellis Island, and immigrants getting off the boat. Video is black and white and there is no talking, video is set to music.
