Using information to write an equation and solve a word problem, the instructor uses whiteboard to demonstrate. Students learn to solve "mixture" word problems -- for example, adding two acid solutions together, or adding water to a sugar solution. Students then set up a chart based on the mixture formula, which states that the amount of solution times the percent of acid = amount of acid (or the amount of solution times the percent of sugar = amount of sugar). The chart is then used to set up the equation. Suitable for high school students.
