From YouTube, produced by Barnes & Noble
Video done by Barnes & Noble/meet the writers. The creator of the Goosebumps and Horrorland books, R.L. Stine invites us into his NYC apartment to talk about his beginnings, his inspirations, and his fantastic (if a little frightened) fan base. He talks about how he found a typewriter in his attic and that is how he got his start. When he was a kid he would read Tales from the Crypt and The Vault of Horror, he said they were funny and scary at the same time and he LOVED them. He said he thinks kids like his books because kids know what they are in for, there are lots of thrills and twist and turns, yet everyone is safe at the end. He concludes with saying that the whole point of his career is getting them to read and be entertained. (2:59)
