From YouTube, produced by Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators
Interview hosted by Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators. He is asked, "What is a picture book?" He answers that once the child has had the book read to them, they can remember the story by looking at the pictures. He discusses the visual style of books and how there is not one that works best. He hopes that the things he writes makes children feel good and see things in a different way. He then shows how he illustrates a picture. What single word would he leave as his legacy? Courage. "Courage, my brave one." (3:06)
