Excerpt from the 1999 BBC documentary 'The Planets' regarding Voyager 2 flyby of Neptune in 1989. After 12 years in flight, Voyager arrived at Neptune. This video describes what was seen. There are awesome pictures of Neptune taken by Voyager. They saw the deep blue color, dark spot, and white clouds that are on Neptune. They were able to see the complexity of the planet which include strong winds and why they occur. Scientists also noticed Neptune has ring arcs, they are not complete rings and they still don't understand why they aren't complete. This video also took pictures of one of the moons of Neptune, Triton. Triton was really unlike any they had seen before, it was really cold. Awesome pictures and information. Video is of great quality, and appropriate for middle elementary, middle and high school students. (07:28)

A look at the planet Neptune. It gives some simple historical information, number of moons, layers of the planet, its atmospheric makeup, the surface temperature, mass of the planet and what it compares to, diameter size, why the color of Neptune is blue, and a series of images over time. Gives information on the wind, temperature differences on the planet. The pictures are great in this video, it is set to music and there is no voice. (08:49)

We’re rounding out our planetary tour with ice giants, Uranus and Neptune. Both have small rocky cores, thick mantles of ammonia, water, and methane, and atmospheres that make them look greenish and blue. Uranus has a truly weird rotation and relatively dull weather, while Neptune has clouds and storms whipped by tremendous winds. Both have rings and moons, with Neptune’s Triton probably being a captured ice ball that has active geology. (12:19)

Do you know how tiny Earth is compared to other planets and stars?
Earth is compared to Venus, Mars, Mercury and Pluto. Then to Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune, then to the Sun. Then to Arcturus - the brightest star in the Northern Hemisphere, and other smaller stars - Pollux and Sirius. There is no narration, just English captions to accompany the images. Our Sun is a tiny dot in the Milky Way! Earth is even smaller! (01:45)

This video is about the length of a solar day vs a stellar day vs a mean standard day, what they all have to do with each other and the earth's orbit, eccentricity, axial tilt, and so on. Also, aliens and asteroids. It'll explain the equation of time, and why the longest day is in December. The lab will also show you what days are like on all the other planets - Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and even - though it's not a planet - Pluto. (03:03)

New Horizons is the first mission to the Kuiper Belt, a gigantic zone of icy bodies and mysterious small objects orbiting beyond Neptune. This region also is known as the “third” zone of our solar system, beyond the inner rocky planets and outer gas giants. Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in Maryland, designed, built and operates the New Horizons spacecraft, and manages the mission for NASA’s Science Mission Directorate in Washington. The Year of Pluto - NASA New Horizons is a one hour documentary which takes on the hard science and gives us answers to how the mission came about and why it matters. Interviews with Dr. James Green, John Spencer, Fran Bagenal, Mark Showalter and others share how New Horizons will answer many questions. New Horizons is part of the New Frontiers Program, managed by NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama. (58:33)
