Singapore Math--Dividing Fractions
From YouTube
This video shows how to use Thinking Blocks to model and solve a word problem that involves dividing fractions. Fractions are multiplied or divided. Thinking blocks are used on interactive board screen. Labels and bars are made for information we know from word problem and also for what we are trying to answer. Once the model is complete you can solve for the answer. This would be a great resource to use as teacher professional development or for direct instruction. (07:44)

Spiny Seahorse Moving Along Sandy Seabed
From arkive.org, produced by Arkive.org-BBC Natural History
This short video gives excellent real life, close up footage of a Spiny Seahorse moving along a sandy seabed at the bottom of the ocean. Named after the spines that project from the corners of the bony plates covering the body, the spiny seahorse (Hippocampus histrix) is, like all seahorses, an intriguing and peculiar-looking fish. As well as its spiny appearance, this seahorse can be distinguished by its very long snout, which is sparsely patterned with white bars. This is a great resource to help build background knowledge and to help make real world connections between nature and the classroom. (Less Than 2 Minutes)

The Origin of Vaccines
From YouTube, produced by OpenMind
The case of the English physician and surgeon Edward Jenner (1749-1823) is one of perseverance and method, but also of an audacity that today would have put him behind bars. Contrary to what is sometimes presented, the idea of vaccinations did not arise as a “eureka” moment. In Jenner’s epoch, variolation, or inoculation, was practiced using smallpox scabs or pus in healthy people to protect them from what was then a terrible plague. (02:30)

Sarah Vaughan - Misty (Live from Sweden) Mercury Records 1964
From YouTube
"Misty" is a jazz standard written in 1954 by the pianist Erroll Garner. Originally composed as an instrumental following the traditional 32-bar format, the tune later had lyrics by Johnny Burke and became the signature song of Johnny Mathis. (05:45)

Sarah's accompanied by Kirk Stuart (piano), Charles "Buster" Williams (bass), and Georges Hughes (drums). Recorded in Sweden, 1964. (Mercury Records)

Look at me,
I'm as helpless as a kitten up a tree
Feel like I'm clinging to a cloud
I can't understand,
I get misty just holding your hand.

Walk my way,
And a thousand violins begin to play
Might be the sound of your hello
That music I hear,
I get misty the moment you're near

And you can see that you're leading me on
And it's just, and it's just what I want you to do
Don't you notice how hopelessly I'm lost
That's why I'm following you.

On my own,
Would I wander through this wonderland alone
Never knowing my right foot from my left,
My hat from my glove,
I'm too misty, and too much in love.

And you can see that you're leading me on
And it's just, and it's just what I want you to do
Don't you notice how hopelessly I'm lost
That's why I'm following you.

On my own,
Would I wander through this wonderland alone
Never knowing my right foot from my left,
My hat from my glove,
I'm too misty, and too much in love
I get too misty, and too much in loveSHOW MORE
