Featuring the Letter F. In this video children learn interactively about a specific letter of the English alphabet with Cullen and Gator in this educational and entertaining video. Three things are covered for each letter: viewing upper and lower case letters, making the letter's sound together, and learning about a food that starts with that letter with Cullen and Gator. Here is a list of the foods used for each letter so you and your child can interactivity participate with the foods. Remember if you use the food at home or in the classroom the rule is, "it has to go in your mouth, but does not have to stay in." Of course, your child does not have to have the food in hand to learn and enjoy the video. In the food section of the videos four of the five senses are incorporated, shape recognition and even good manners are highlighted. (7:21)

This is not a streaming video but an interactive online book. It could be used in the classroom in numerous ways and at numerous levels. This book talks to the learner about healthy food choices using the alphabet as a guide. There is a site index so the teacher could control what parts of the book the reader listens too, as well as a teacher guide and games, including coloring pages for the youngest of learners. Older students might learn about foods they didn't even know existed; for example, the XuXu, a tropical squash.

11-year-old Birke Baehr presents his take on a major source of our food -- far-away and less-than-picturesque industrial farms. Keeping farms out of sight promotes a rosy, unreal picture of big-box agriculture, he argues, as he outlines the case to green and localize food production. (05:14)

This short video gives excellent real life, close up footage of an adult Snowy Owl hunting and catching food for its babies. Perhaps one of the most instantly recognizable of all owls, the snowy owl is characterized by its distinctive white plumage, which gives it good camouflage against the snow. Since the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill, populations of several animals in Prince William Sound, including seabirds and seals, have been in decline. This video adapted from KTOO suggests that the oil spill was not the sole cause of the shakeup in the ecosystem; rather, it proposes an explanation for why the populations were already in decline when the spill occurred. Many of the animals in decline share a common food: a fish called a sand lance, whose populations have shrunk with the steady rise in ocean temperature that began in the late 1970s. Closed captioning included. (02:31)

This short video gives excellent real life footage of a colony of Leaf-Cutter Ants gathering fungus and taking it to colony for food. Atta cephalotes is a leaf-cutting, fungus-growing ant, with one of the most fascinating and complex social systems known to science. Colonies of this leaf-cutter ant species contain millions of individuals, making it possibly the most dominant invertebratein Central and South America. A colony is made up of different classes of ant, known as castes, including the queen, workers, and at certain times, males and females (queens) that are capable of reproduction. This is a great resource to help build background knowledge and to help make real world connections between nature and the classroom. (Less Than 3 Minutes)
