This video discusses the vocabulary used when discussing Thanksgiving. It also discusses the expressions used around the holiday, for example, "Let's talk turkey.", and why people celebrate the holiday. This is a great resource to introduce and/or review holidays in the classroom. This is a helpful resource for our ELL students and also our special education students who have trouble with expressions. (04:53)

In part 2 of this video, Papa Bear continues to be obsessive about winning the annual Thanksgiving pumpkin contest and lets it interfere with his friendship with Farmer Ben. Papa wins third place and realizes he should not have treated his friend so rudely. The Bear family share a special Thanksgiving and are very thankful for special friends and the "giant" pumpkin pie. This is a good companion teaching resource for reading Berenstain Bear books in the classroom and/or library. This video would work well in conjunction with reading The Prize Pumpkin during the Thanksgiving season. This is part 2 of 2. (05:46)

Why do people eat mashed potatoes on Thanksgiving Day but not mashed paper towels? That’s not such an odd question from a chemistry standpoint because potato and paper are almost as similar as two peas in a pod in terms of the carbohydrates they contain.
For the answer to that and other topics that could spark dinnertime conversation, the American Chemical Society (ACS) is offering an addition to the holiday menu: A special video on the chemistry of Thanksgiving. (23:21)

It's crunch time for the 'balloonatics' at Macy's Parade Studio. The balloons themselves, which are designed and fabricated in a warehouse in New Jersey, are getting their final checkup before the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. John Piper and Jim Artle take us around the studio and spill the secrets of inflation, explain how to calculate whether your balloon will float, and explain why the balloons look better after a little time in the sun.
