Spindletop, an east Texas oil Field, produced 80,000 barrels a day and changed the country and oil production forever. This 2:41 long video tells the history of the drilling of this well and its impact on America. A good video for students as it shows the importance of innovation and determination. Also, a cause and effect essay on the dependency on oil is worth it.

On March 23, 2021 the container ship Ever Given was on it’s journey between the port of Tanjung Pelepas in Malaysia and Rotterdam in the Netherlands when it was sailing through the Suez Canal in Egypt. The ship was surprised by a sandstorm and rammed itself into the side wall of the canal. Even though the blockade is resolved, it is expected that the delay is expected to cause a ripple effect that will add stress to port facilities and even inland infrastructure. (08:09)

This ten-minute video explains a little-used, often-forgotten but very effective classroom management strategy for taking control of really tough groups of students right at the start of lessons. This classroom Management method is for really challenging, noisy groups that take ages to settle, cost you a lot of time and cause you a lot of stress and frustration.
You'll learn WHY some noisy groups of students take longer than others to settle down and HOW to get them in a state where they are more likely to stop talking and listen to you so that they enter your classroom on YOUR terms. (10:33)

This 12-minute video contains very intense photos. It is an excellent overview of the causes of the Civil War. Students would benefit from a word wall as some of the terms may be new to them. The route of the Underground Railroad would be good, too, as well as a map of the USA at that time listing free and slave states.

Changes in air pressure, caused by air's height above sea level, temperature, and amount of water vapor, causes wind. The Earth's rotation also helps. It causes the Coriolis Effect, which makes the wind blow on a curved path. Learn more about the difference between air pressure and wind with this cartoon animation from StudyJams. A short, self-checking quiz is also included with this link.
