Most public schools block social networking websites. I put this video together to get a little perspective. It is an attempt to see the forest from the trees. Basically, my thesis is that the internet is a social network and a communication medium. Communication media are only fully used to their potential if it is a two-way medium. Teaching students how to use the internet without letting them publish, blog, tweet, etc. is like teaching them how to read without allowing them to write. (09:57)

Whether you're writing an essay for school, to argue a point, or to advance an opinion, the steps to follow are the same. This video addresses seven basic steps to follow when writing an essay. Step 1: Choose a topic of interest. Step 2: Research information and take detailed notes. Step 3: Start where you want the reader of the essay to end up. Step 4: Outline your essay to develop at least 2-3 arguments supporting your thesis sentence. Step 5: Introduce your topic and state your thesis. Step 6: Summarize your arguments in your concluding paragraph without being redundant. Step 7: Don't worry too much. The more you work at it, the better your writing will get. There are many other videos on writing located on this site should you need additional resources on writing. (01:39)
